SUBMISSIONS

Please see our submission guidelines and instructions below. Submissions will close January 15th, 2026

Only students and alumni from the Far Western Region of Sigma Tau Delta (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, China, and Guam) are eligible to submit work to be considered for publication in Intraminutia. You may submit up to two (2) submissions, divided as follows:

  • One (1) submission of either creative nonfiction or short fiction categories

  • One (1) submission of poetry (up to 5 poems) or art/photography (up to 10 pieces).

 

Works submitted to Intraminutia may not have been published elsewhere and may not be currently submitted to another publication. Intraminutia claims First North American Serial Rights. This means that the works submitted here cannot appear in or be submitted to any other publication until after the release of this issue of Intraminutia. Rights will revert to the author upon publication in Intraminutia.

Submitted works must also have been written/created or have had extensive revisions since you entered college.

In addition to the selected submissions, we will be publishing the winners of our monthly poetry contests, posted on our instagram @sigmataudelta.farwesternregion.

Poetry

  • All poetry must be submitted in the same document typed. All written submissions must be in 12 point, Times New Roman in Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text (.rtf) format. Do not include extra information in a header, especially not your name.

  • Every piece must be titled. 

  • Max 5 poems.

  • Do not include your name anywhere in your submission or in the "Title" field of the application form. Please only include your name in the "Name" field on the application form in submittable or in the email. Submissions are judged by a blind jury process, so if your name is included on your piece or in any location other than the “Name” field on the application form, your submission will not be considered for publication.​

Art / Photography

  • All artwork must be submitted in the same document.

  • Every piece must be titled.

  • Max 10 pieces

  • You may submit a mix of artwork and photography, but no more than 10 pieces total. 

  • Do not include your name anywhere in your submission or in the "Title" field of the application form. Please only include your name in the "Name" field on the application form in submittable or in the email. Submissions are judged by a blind jury process, so if your name is included on your piece or in any location other than the “Name” field on the application form, your submission will not be considered for publication.

Short Fiction

  • No more than 5,000 words

  • Do not include your name anywhere in your submission or in the "Title" field of the application form. Please only include your name in the "Name" field on the application form in submittable or in the email. Submissions are judged by a blind jury process, so if your name is included on your piece or in any location other than the “Name” field on the application form, your submission will not be considered for publication.

  • Short fiction submissions may be in any style including, but not limited to, short story, micro-fiction, flash fiction, and tall tales.

  • All written submissions must be in 12 point, Times New Roman in Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text (.rtf) format. Do not include extra information in a header, especially not your name.

  • Untitled works will not be considered for publication.

Nonfiction

  • No more than 5,000 words

  • Do not include your name anywhere in your submission or in the "Title" field of the application form. Please only include your name in the "Name" field on the application form in submittable or in the email. Submissions are judged by a blind jury process, so if your name is included on your piece or in any location other than the “Name” field on the application form, your submission will not be considered for publication.

  • Creative nonfiction submissions may be in any type of nonfiction, fact-based prose including, but not limited to, memoirs, short stories, personal essays, lyrical essays, literary journalism, and travel writing. Creative Nonfiction is usually a combination of scene, reflection, and exposition generally based on a person’s life or personal experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I be notified about my submission?

Submitters will be notified approximately 1 month after the submission deadline.

When and where do the journals get published?

Intraminutia is an online-only magazine, and will be published on our website through Issuu in the Spring.

If accepted, is my piece copyrighted by Sigma Tau Delta?

Per North American Serial Rights, Intraminutia will temporary claim rights to submissions, but will return rights as soon as works are published.
